The item on the
next page, about Louis XIV is from various letters written during his era, but more importantly documents in which he authored himself. During the time of the Roman Empire various Emperors had gladitorial games to distract the public's political attentions. For Louis it was his cultural promotions to distract the nobles power attentions, while he was engaged in an European wide power struggle after his initial central power control success over the French nobles ( err were they, err ... noble at the time ? ). Nonetheless, his cultrual innovations are just as much as a success today as ever as they were during his time and era, and more so over what the Roman Emperors had instituted; this is his inexplicable legacy. As a result Paris is still the Fashions and Ballet Center of the World. It must be pointed out, right now there is now competition from Tokyo for fashions and New York City for ballet, however, Paris is ever present the dominant force, though slim as it is, in these cultural innovations; The competitors - The Rising of Edo - Sun of Tokyo, and the NYC's Paragonic Dance World.
